Itinerary

Day 01:

Flight to Chennai. After being welcomed at the airport check into the hotel.

 

Day 02: Chennai

Start your day with a sightseeing tour of Chennai, formerly Madras. The port city is located in southeast India on the Coromandel Coast. Chennai, a phenomenal example of the peaceful coexistence of modernity and tradition, each complementing one another in a fine balance. Chennai tours help you explore this metropolis of Chennai in its different manifestations. Chennai was once a major center of the British Empire in India. Of Chennai's two thousand years of history still testify to the ancient temples of the city. We show first the Government Museum, the National Art Gallery and the Temple of the 16th Kapaleeshwarar Then drive past century Fort George, the famous Marina Beach and the St. Thomas Cathedral. Day 03: Chennai - Mysore

Train journey by Shatabdi Express (about 7 hours of driving, except Tuesday). Also visit the art gallery and head to Chamundeshwari Temple on Chamundi Hill, where one can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city. Then travel to the gigantic bull Nandi, a 5-meter high monolith. Beautiful photo opportunities provides the colorful fruit and spice market in the city. Overnight in Mysore.

 

Day 04: Mysore - Ooty

Ride through a beautiful mountainous landscape to Ooty. Ooty is the health resort, which was developed by the British in India as a summer residence. To experience a ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railways. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is one of the oldest mountain railways in India. It had been planned since 1845, and in 1899 asked by the British completed according to the plans of the Swiss Niklaus Riggenbach. When you visit Ooty, you just cannot ignore NMR, Nilgri Mountain Railway.

 

Day 05: Ooty - Cochin

Drive to Cochin. Rest of the day.

 

Day 06: Cochin

This port town was in ancient times a famous place as a trading center for spices. Visit the oldest Jewish settlement and synagogue and one of the oldest Franciscan church, where Vasco da Gama was once buried. Also, the Dutch Palace and the famous Chinese fishing nets, you can be admired today. Towards evening demonstration of the Kathakali mask dance is a must watch tourist attraction. The word Kathakali literally means "Story-Play". It is known for its large, elaborate makeup and costumes.

 

Day 07: Cochin - Kumarakom (Backwaters)

Explore by boat the lagoon system of backwaters. Coconut palms and always small settlements lining the banks of the canals, which are used as transport routes. Overnight on the houseboat.

 

Day 08: Kumarakom - Madurai

Drive to Madurai. Rest of the day at leisure. Evening ceremony in the temple. . In the daily evening ceremony you can see how God Shiva is carried in the bedroom of his wife Menakshi. Kumarakom is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The largest lake in Kerala, Vembanad Lake is a habitat for many marine and freshwater fish species like Karimeen (Pearl spot), shrimp (chemmeen in the local language) and prawns.

 

Day 09: Madurai

Madurai is known as Athens of the East, it is a place of great historical and cultural importance. Madurai is one of the oldest cities in South Asia and lies on the banks of the River Vaigai. The main attraction of the tour of Madurai is the Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple with its five huge, figurines decorated gate towers. In the famous temple from early morning until late at night, there is lively, bustling, constantly meet a new group of pilgrims who had some weeks to arrive. In the evening we visit again this magnificent Meenakshi Temple a visit. Then apply visit the airy palace Tirumallai Nayak with his remarkable throne room.

 

Day 10: Madurai - Tanjore

Enjoy all of the impressions: the faithful, the vibrancy of the bazaars, the many nested courtyards etc. In Tanjore or Thanjavur visiting the world famous temples Brihadeshwara.

 

Day 11: Tanjore - Mamallapuram

Drive to Mamallapuram. Overnight at beach hotel.

 

Day 12: Mamallapuram - Kanchipuram - Mamallapuram

Full day excursion to Kanchipuram. The city is famous for its magnificent temples and silk.

 

Day 13: Mamallapuram

The whole day at the beach Realxing

 

Day 14: Mamallapuram - Chennai

Directly travel to the airport in Chennai. Flight home. Namaste!
