Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Cochin (Normal check-in time at the hotel is 1400 Hrs.)

Today we will pick you from your suggested place in Cochin. Our GeTS Holidays representative henceforth will escort you to the hotel booked. This day, we will provide you free time to relax after long journey. Overnight stay in Hotel

 Day 02: Cochin city tour - Munnar (140 Kms. 4-5 Hrs.)

Today morning after breakfast at hotel get ready for visiting Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis -Church, & Chinese Fishing Net. Later drive to Munnar. On arrival, check-in to your pre-booked hotel. Overnight stay in Hotel.

 Day 03: Munnar Sightseeing

Today Morning have your breakfast get ready for the sightseeing Mattupetty Dam; a beautiful spot for viewing the picturesque Munnar, Kundala Lake- a natural lake with recreational facilities like boating and having excellent view of Western Ghats as well as the forest surrounded with. Also visit Eco point and tea plantations. After noon you can visit Eravikulam National park; where the endangering Nilgiri Tahr is conserved. Later drive back to your resort for Overnight stay.

Day 04 : Munnar  - Thekkady (Periyar) (110 Kms 03 hrs)

After breakfast, check out of the hotel. Drive to Thekkady and arrive by the afternoon. Check into the hotel and get ready to take an boat cruise in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and enjoy the wild life. Here you will be able to see a large variety of wildlife, which include elephants, monkeys, deer, wild boar etc, and quite a lot of unique birds can also be spotted. There are also few tribal villages to explore. Later, come back to the hotel Rest of the day free at leisure. Evening return to hotel. Overnight stay in hotel.

 

Day 05: Thekkady - Kumarakom (125 Kms. 4 Hrs.)

Today After breakfast at hotel and get drive to Kumarakom, Kumarakom most excellent destination famous for beauty of backwater it is a unique product of Kerala and is found nowhere else in the world. Backwaters are a network of lakes, canals and estuaries and deltas of forty-four rivers that drain into the Arabian Sea. The backwaters of Kerala are a self-supporting Eco-system teeming with aquatic life. Upon arrival check in at hotel. Late afternoon Sunset boat cruises on Lake Vembanad. Overnight at hotel.

 Day 06: Kumarakom - Alleppey (Houseboat) (30 Kms. 01 Hrs.)

After breakfast at Hotel, later drive to Alleppey and called Venice of the East. A town with picturesque canals, backwaters & lagoons, it has a wonderful past, it owes its existence to the sagacious Diwan Raja Kesavadas in the second half of 18th century. Kuttanad, the rice bowl of Kerala with the unending stretch of paddy fields, small streams & canals with lush green coconut palms, was well known even from the early periods of the Sangam age. History says Alappuzha had trade relations with ancient Greece & Rome in the pre Jesus era. Alleppey is now the hub for backwaters tourism in Kerala.

On arrival we board the Houseboat, locally called Kettuvallam, cruise around backwaters of Alleppey to observe & experience the daily life of the villagers along the backwaters. Holiday on the houseboats are an out-of-this-world experience. DAY 10: Kanyakumari - Rameshwaram (310 Kms 7 hrs)

Today morning have your breakfast and get ready to drive Rameshwaram, Rameshwaram one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The holiness of this place is clear from the belief that even your trip to Kashi is incomplete without your trip to Rameshwaram.  Day 11: Rameshwaram - Madurai (180 Kms. 4 Hrs.)

After breakfast at Hotel we will drive you to Madurai, Afternoon arrive Madurai, check in Hotel, also famed as the Athens of the East. As you arrive, check-into the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. You can partake in the activities of your interest. Visit the local market to indulge in shopping and relishing the local food, indulge in the facilities of the hotel, have an interaction with the locals and more. Overnight stay in Madurai.

Day 12: Madurai Sightseeing

Today morning after breakfast city tour of Madurai history goes back to six centuries before Christ. The Pandyan rulers made this their capital until the 14th Century and the city flowered with the genius of its writers, builders, poets and academics. Then the Nayaks ruled Madurai from the middle of the 16th Century to 1743. The ten tall Gopurams of the Meenakshi Temple were raised during their dynasty. visiting - Sri Meenakshi Sundereswarar and Palani temples, King Tirumala’s Palace, Vandiyur Mariamman Tank and Gandhi museum.

 Day 13: Madurai - Trichy (135 Kms. 3 Hrs.)

Today morning after breakfast at hotel get drive to Trichy, arrive Trichy, check in hotel and after refreshment visiting and exploring the prime attractions of Trichy today. The first visit is to the Srirangam, located at a distance of around 5 km from Trichy. Here you visit Sri Ranganathaswami temple, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and boasts of having one of India’s largest temple complexes. Your next visit is to the Tiruchirapalli Rock Fort, placed on the banks of the River Kaveri. Stay overnight.

 Day 14: Trichy - Tanjore (60 Kms. 1.5 HRS.)

After breakfast at Hotel get drive to Tanjore, afternoon arrive in Tanjore Check in hotel and later proceed for sightseeing which covers the famous world Heritage monument one of the most famous land Marks of Tanjore is the Bragatheeswarar Temple, a built in at the beginning of the 12th century by the greatest Chola emperor Raja Raja Chola King, With its lush green stretches of cultivated lands.  Day 15: Tanjore - Pondicherry (170 Kms. 3.5 HRS.)

After breakfast at Hotel get drive to Pondicherry, Enruote visit Kumbakonam, after that continue your journey to Pondicherry, Arrive and check in hotel, the rest of the day is free for you to partake in the activities of your interest.

Day 16 : Pondicherry Sightseeing

Today morning after breakfast get all set for sightseeing in Pondicherry. The attractions that you visit today include the Sacred Heart Church, the Rai Niwas and Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Apart from being a religious site, Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is an oriental specimen of Gothic style of architecture.

The other attraction, Raj Niwas, is the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry.  The last attraction of the day is Sri Aurobindo Ashram, founded by Sri Aurobindo, way back in the year 1926. This spiritual community is flocked by a huge number of visitors all round the year. Stay overnight in Pondicherry.

 Day 17: Pondicherry - Mahabalipuram (100 Kms. 3 Hrs.)

Today After breakfast at hotel get drive to Mahabalipuram, Check in hotel and get readdy for sightseeing in Mahabalipuram.  Also known as Mamallapuram, it has been the ancient port of the Pallava rulers. During their reign, the Pallava rulers constructed a number of architectural marvels such as caves, sculptural panels, temples and Monolithic rathas.

One of such attraction that you will visit today includes Krishna Mandapam. Dedicated to Lord Krishna, it is the world’s largest cave-cut Hindu temple. The walls of this temple consist of several figures, including those of Lord Krishna, humans, birds and demi-gods.

The other attraction will be the Shore temple. Dating back to the 8th century, this temple is one of the finest examples of Dravidian style of architecture.

The last attraction of the day is the Five (Paanch) Rathas. Also called the Paandava Rathas, it is a group of 5 monolithic temples, each erected in a different architecture styling. Back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

 Day 18: Mahabalipuram - Kanchipuram - Chennai (110 Kms 02 Hrs.,)

Today morning after breakfast leave for Kanchipuram, by road.  Around 70 km westwards of Mahabalipuram, Kanchipuram is referred to as one of the 7 sacred cities of Hinduism. The Chola capital during the 2ndcentury, Kanchipuram today is an important place where people come to gain knowledge about Jainism, Hinduism and Buddhism.

You may visit the city’s popular temples such as Kamakshi Amman temple, Ekambareswarar temple and so on. Also visit the silk weavers of the city, residing here from past four centuries. Thereafter, continue towards Chennai. On arrival, complete the check-in formalities at the hotel. Overnight stay.

 Day 19: Chennai sightseeing

·        Santhome Cathedral: Built by Portuguese in the 14th and 15th century, this Cathedral is named after St. Thomas. Historically important, it is one of the Fort pilgrimages for the Christian community.

 

·        St. George Fort: St. George, one the first few bastions built by the east India company, marks the beginning of Chennai as a modern city this bastion achieved it's from St. George, the patron saint of England. Now the Fort is converted to Museum.

 

·        Kapaleeswarar Temple: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Kapaleeswarar temple has inscriptions from the 13th century A.D. The temple 'Gopuram' (tower) is in the characteristic Dravidian style of architecture. The walls and pillars of temple has very delicate and intricate carvings which depict the scenes from Hindu mythology name

 

·        Marina Beach: pride of Chennai, is the second longest beach in the world and has a wide sandy foreshore. Situated on the beach, the Anna and MGR samadhis are memorials of the most popular former Chief Ministers of the state.

 

·        Kalakshertra: The cultural Institution found by Rukmani Devi Arundale in 1936 and is devoted to the revival of classical arts. Students from many countries learns the arts in the ancient traditional wai od Indian teachings - Gurukulam. Classical dance, music and traditional textile design and weaving are taught in natural surroundings.

 

 Day 20: Chennai Departure
